Welcome to Fabulous Tiaras bridal beauty page....
No matter what your age, you are never too old to start caring for your skin and help to get it in tip top condition for your big day.
Ideally, you should start your skin care routine approx 6 months before your big day as skin takes at least 30 days to renew itself, and get used to the new products. Don't worry if you've only a few weeks left - we've got some great ideas to get your skin sparkling!
Firstly, you should start drinking lots of water. Yes, we know you've heard it all before - but drinking water really flushes any toxins from your skin and body and rehydrates your skin - perfect for if you've had one too many white wine spritzers on your hen night! Aim for 2 litres - we know it sounds a lot to start with, but once you get used to drinking a few large glasses throughout the day, you'll soon get used to it. If you find your visiting the ladies room a little too often, try adding a pinch of sea salt to your water (not so that you can taste it) - this will help your body retain the water.
Following a skin care routine is crucial in order to keep your skin glowing. It's essential to have an effective skincare routine to keep your skin at its best. The routine shouldn't be too complicated it should simply include sun protection, cleansing, moisturising, nourishing.
Cleansing
The key to healthy and beautiful skin is proper cleansing to remove oil, dirt, make-up and dead skin cells. Your skin should be cleansed at least two times a day - in the morning and in the evening just before bed. Using a cleanser is an essential part of the basic skin-care routine. Cleansers leave the skin feeling clean, smooth and oil free. There is a wide range of different cleansing products appropriate for different skin types. They not only remove the impurities and oils, embedded in your pores, but they also moisturise and nourish your skin, remove the dead skin cells and shrink large pores.
Try using Cliniques 3 step skin care solution – there are several cleansers in this range – either a facial soap, rinse off foaming cleanser or a cleansing balm.
Toners
Choose a cleanser that suits your skin type and doesn't dry your skin. Use a toner to remove any traces of makeup residue. Toners remove the traces of makeup, dirt and oil that your cleanser may have missed. They also reduce pores, eliminate oil and refine the skin. They also prepare the skin for moisturisers.
Exfoliation
Exfoliating the skin regularly is very important for every age and for every skin type. Exfoliating the skin boosts the skins natural cell-shedding process, which slows down as we age. When exfoliating you remove the dead skin cells and the oils that can cause pores to plug and lead to problems like blackheads, whiteheads, spots and acne. Exfoliating your skin will encourage a newer, smoother and healthier skin surface. Make sure the exfoliator you use suits your skin type and doesn't contain any harsh ingredients or chemicals. Exfoliating twice a week should be enough to keep your skin clean and to restore its glow. Don't exfoliate your face more than twice as over-exfoliating may result in removing healthy new skin and may lead to hypersensitivity.
Cliniques Exfoliating Scrub with menthol leaves your skin feeling really fresh and smooth (we love this at Fabulous Tiaras) and is perfect for combination skin (oily t-zone/dry cheeks).
Moisturiser
As we age our skin becomes less elastic and smooth as the production of natural oils slows, resulting in dull, dehydrated skin. That's why it's essential to replenish the lost moisture with a good moisturiser or a hydrating cream. A good hydrating face cream that helps skin to retain moisture will plump your skin and will boost cell performance. A quality cream will create a barrier against possible moisture loss. If you are concerned with blemishes you might try oil-free moisturiser. Always make sure your moisturiser is appropriate for your skin type. Don't forget to moisturise your neck too.
Night creams
Before going to bed, apply a night cream. It'll protect your skin from the loss of moisture and the skin will look be more elastic and fresh in the morning.
Eye creams
Your eyes also need attention. The skin around the eyes is very delicate and sensitive, and that's why you should use special eye creams or gels that are specifically made for the delicate eye area.
Try ‘all about eyes’ by Clinique, which reduces puffiness and minimises dark circles.
